Elba Iris Pérez is geboren in Aguas Buenas op het eiland Puerto Rico. Ze bracht een groot gedeelte van haar jeugd door in Woronoco, een plaats in de Amerikaanse staat Massachusetts. Ze heeft les gegeven in theater en geschiedenis aan de University of Puerto Rico in Arecibo. Tegenwoordig is ze woonachtig in de Amerikaanse stad Houston.
